Certifications:

Crossfit Level 1; Burgener Weighlifting Level 1

Fitness Background:

Being 1 of 9 children my mom put us in any group activity she could find to get us out of the house and busy.  I started summer swim team at the age of 5 as well as T-ball softball.  By the time I was in middle school I played 3 sports basketball, volleyball and softball through high school.  As an adult, I would workout when I could primarily running until someone introduced me to Crossfit in 2010.  I was hooked instantly.  I love the variation functional fitness brings to daily workouts, the community that is established though group classes and common challenges of the workouts.  While my intensity and consistency with Crossfit has varied over the last 16 years, I haven’t found any other form of fitness I like better.

Favorite Movements/Strengths:

I love Olympic lifting.  I enjoy the complexity and challenge of the movements.  Nothing feels better that hitting a heavy snatch or clean with proper and good technique.  As far as strengths, anything with a squat or lunge or jump.

Coaching Style:

I think I come across as serious while coaching.  I believe in teaching good technical movements before adding weight.  Safety is of utmost importance to me for anyone in my class.  I really enjoy sharing what knowledge I have about movements or lifts to make you feel comfortable and confident in doing a workout.  It is such a great feeling as a coach to teach someone over time how to do a movement i.e. pull-up and see them get it for the first time.

Why I Coach:

I want to share the joy, sense of accomplishment, inner strength that I have gained through fitness with others so they can feel the same.  While you have to show up and do the work, we are all better working together, encouraging each other, accepting failure when it comes and celebrating our successes.

Fun Fact:

My older sister and I are Irish twins.  We have the same birthday exactly one year apart.  I auditioned for the musical Annie when I was 10.  I made call backs but I think it was because I looked like an orphan more that my ability to sing and dance.
